Trigger, our beloved Chocolate Lab, joined our family the day after the big Fort Collins Flood in July of ’97. He started off a cute little puppy and became not only a huge part of our family, but a loyal and passionate hunting companion to my husband, Rick. Trigger loved to swim and find the birds regardless if they were on land or in the water. He was a great big brother to our 2 sons after they were born and patiently let them tug and pull at him as they learned and grew. For me, he was my late night pal & protector, always checking on me and keeping me company while I stayed up at night to take care of all the tasks I couldn’t get done each day. He truly enjoyed just hanging out with the family, especially wherever his Daddy was. Although life got busier and he didn’t get the attention he used to, I hope he knew how much we all loved him and the paw print he left on our hearts. Even in his final week, when he had little energy to do anything, he came to life with excitement when my husband took him hunting to retrieve his final goose. That was their special time together and Rick was so proud of Trigger’s abilities. I can only hope that Trigger’s pain has subsided now and that we made Trigger’s life as full as he made ours. We miss you Triggs and you will never be forgotten. –Tania Pieper
